Death of Members Policy

SURREY SHORT MAT  BOWLING ASSOCIATON

RECOGNISING AND COMMUNICATING DEATHS OF MEMBERS

This policy has been drawn up to enable the respectful and appropriate recognition of deaths of our members through the County website and circulation to all clubs.

The process for implementation of the policy is as follows:

  1. In the first instance, individual clubs are responsible for informing the County Secretary and their own members of the death of any club member.  Adjustments to membership records can then be made.

  1. If the deceased member meets one or more of the following criteria, their passing will be publicised on the website and also circulated to all Clubs.

  1. Any existing or former Officer of the County Association Committee
  2. Any existing or former Officer of an ESMBA registered Club – i.e. Chair, Secretary, Treasurer
  3. Any registered member with more than 15 years membership of the Club
  4. Any registered member who had an outstanding record of performance in County and National competitions.

The decision and request to do this is down to each Club Committee who should inform the County Secretary with any relevant background information on the member.  The Secretary will then arrange the website insertion and circulation to the Clubs.

The County Committee will arbitrate in the event of any disagreement or uncertainty as to whether the criteria has been met.
